    OMG !!!

It messed up all my tags and categories. Now all my posts are in the default category. My tags are not working anymore. When I click on a tag I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function GetFormat() on a non-object in /home/caututil/public_html/wp-content/plugins/seo-title-tag/seo-title-tag.php on line 545

Installed ver. 2.1.4, but it seems that this plugin does not support blogs that are using tag cloud at all. Same error when I click on a tag.

Asked a friend to try ver. 2.1.4 and he got the same error when trying to visit a tag page :(

    Hello,

Sorry to hear about your trouble, caututilaje.

Looks like I had the same experience four days ago (post meta data wiped out completely):

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/180354

As mentioned in my post, I was using version 2.1.4 of this plugin without problems but an upgrade to version 2.2.0 basically killed my site (it relied heavily on custom fields in posts).

While I am not an expert, my guess is that activating the latest version of the plugin wipes out all post meta data (which includes, if I am not mistaken, custom fields, categories and tags).

Here is what did NOT WORK for me:

    2) Checking tables and repairing tables in database through PHP MyAdmin.

The data was simply gone - there was nothing wrong with my database or any tables within. As far as I can see, it does not corrupt the tables, just deletes all the post meta data.

    3) Posting in this forum.

My post went unanswered for four (4) days. Maybe the author is on vacation and very few people are using this plugin...?

Here is what DID WORK for me:

My hosting company has daily, weekly and monthly backups. I emailed them and asked them to roll back my server to a previous restore point.

That wiped out all of my changes to the site after that restore point. I had to input (and in some cases research) all of my custom field data again so it took me about eleven hours to bring my site back to it's original state.

If your site is new with very few posts and/or very little post meta data, you may just be better off reassigning categories and tags yourself.

Again, I am NOT an expert. What worked for me may not work for you and/or may not be the best way to reverse the damage.

I am sorry to hear about your loss and I hope you can get your site back online faster than I did.

    Best Regards.

    Hello again, caututilaje.

Didn't see your second post (took too long writing my initial post).

    Just to clarify my experience:

My problem was with upgrading to Version 2.2.0. I had no problems with 2.1.4 but my site does not use tags at all so that may explain it.

Hope you can get your site back online quickly.

    Again, sorry about your loss.

Hello wp_plugin, thanks for your concern. I managed to recover my data almost to the initial state of my blog.

Hope that Stephan Spencer from Netconcepts, will read this posts and hopefully he will find a solution for this problem.

The plugin sounds great for some bloggers that are using on the home page a static page.

Conclusion: I'm normal user without any programing knowledge. This is a great plugin and will be such a waste if the problem with the tags (and with custom fields in ver 2.2.0) could not be solved.

Very happy to hear you were able to recover your data!

Your thoughts are shared by me: It is a good plugin indeed and it would be a waste if these problems were not addressed by the developer.

Again, happy to hear about your recovery.

    Cheers!

Yah, I just experienced the same thing wp_plugin. I feel for you...

I actually just started to notice it...after I updated 7 different blogs with this plugin.

In one blog I've been wasting a good dozen hours a week for about 8 weeks now...so probably over a hundred hours spent, all my tags and categories were wiped clean.

I don't know if there are other problems yet, but I feel your pain!

    Hi,

It seems that a new version (2.2.1) is up for download.
Have anyone tested this version? Is it safe?

I don't want to lose tons of data... so please if anyone installed this version and could help us with a review it would be great.
    Thanks!
