dynamic page based on serach terms – ideas please

Hi
I run a website basically to play .MP3 files.
currently http://stories.stroudfm.co.uk (will change soon)

As the catalogue grows and because the files are grouped by author (speaker) and venue there is a lot of connection by subject.

What I intend doing is producing TAGs for each file (where they reside is not fixed yet, it could be a separate file)

What I need is a search facility that I can then interrogate to dynamically generate HTML listing the best “number” of results in a similar format top existing pages.

JavaScript is not a problem to me (PHP is) and there may be search widgets/addons that can do some of this, if not most of it.

Given the bewildering plethora of possible widgets and (because they are free, not overly documented) it is difficult seeing what can help me.
So. Any ideas from the forum?
