• Hello all,

I’m receiving pretty bad ratings from Google’s PageSpeed Insights rating system. I’m getting about 50/100 in both the desktop and mobile categories.

I was using the W3 Total Cache plugin, but after tweaking the options all night, I could not get it to satisfy any of Google’s suggestions to improve my page’s load time.

Please take a look at what PageInsights says about my page for yourself here (type my domain in theoriginalsociety.com).

I know that this low of a score is probably hurting me in terms of SEO. I am trying to fix this as soon as possible.

“Leverage browser caching” seems to be the main hold up based on what the PageInsights is saying. I set cache timeout to 3600 seconds and the timer to check for stale files every 600 seconds. Will this help that? Right away it doesn’t seem like it’s changed anything in the PageSpeed Insights.

Also, to elaborate on what I did with W3 Total Cache, I took the .js that PageInsights suggested minifying and manually put them into the plugin and it did not help. When I minified CSS with that plugin it caused my whole theme to not load properly and made my home page unusable. It also did not satisfy Google’s PageInsights. I’ve since switched to WP Super Cache, and WP Minify plugins, but neither of those seem to have helped any either.
