    Interested in how you would be able to solve this use case, especially if you have multiple possible solutions. The root can be a NON WP site (if that makes the use-case easier).

    I can only think of one solution right now… and that requires forking off WP Domain Mapping plugin and making it work with subdirectories.

    That’s kinda where I was going too 🙂 I know in future versions of WP we’re making pathing a little more extendable, but right now all I can think is to install WP in site1.domain.com, make site2 etc as mapped subdirectories, and THEN make each site a multinetwork. Which ow. Ow. Owwww.
