Auto add publish date to a new post?

Hi,

I’m wondering if there’s a way to auto add a publish date and author to a new post when I create one. My theme auto adds this in but the way it does it, over the featured image, I don’t like so removed it. I’ve resorted to typing it in each time I create a new post on the first line in the format: Published on 12th February, 2014 | by TJ

Is there any way that I can have this auto added to the start of each post when I create a new one, firstly so I don’t have to manually add it each time and secondly so I don’t forget. Ideally I’d like it to appear in the same format as above.
