Keep Current non-wp website up while building new wordpress site

    I am going to build a wordpress site for this business. Before I get started, I know I want to keep the current website up.

    I know you can make it yourdomain.com/wordpress

    But how hard is it to make it THE site when I am done?
    How do I make it go from yourdomain.com/wordpress to just yourdomain.com

    I was reading through Moving WordPress and a couple other instructional guides but I didn’t see how that works
