    Hello,

I’m facing the following challenge. I have currently 5 sub sites running in a multisite install. I want to bring them together in one single site for various reasons.

The way I wanted to do it is the following. One of the subsites is a webshop. I’d like to make that my main site in the end since I have experienced lot of difficulties moving ecommerce contents in the past.
The e-commerce subsite is currently not the root however.

After making a back-up I want to first export all posts and pages from all sub sites to the e-commerce site. After updating and tweeking everything I want to delete the root website. And this is where the problem kicks in I guess. Is this possible? And if not, what would be a better alternative? If it is possible, I want to proceed moving the former e-commerce site to the ’empty’ root. Any advice is welcome.

    Thanks

There are a couple options. One is making the ecommerce site the main site, and the other is moving the ecommerce site to it’s own location.

Neither is really better than the other :/

Hi Mika, I read the article. Very helpful. Also downloaded your document. Importing gives some errors though. This is what is says:

Sorry, there has been an error.
The file does not exist, please try again.

It show some debug lines too:

Notice: wpdb::escape is deprecated since version 3.6! Use wpdb::prepare() or esc_sql() instead. in /home/vrensen/domains/deliciousnature.com/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2913

DO you think it’s related to my other post?

    Thanks

    No. That’s okay.

The file does not exist is interesting. How big was your export XML?

The file size is 91 kb only

Turn off all your plugins when you import. If that doesn’t work, check server error logs.

Mika, if you say turning off, you mean de-activate, right. I de-activated them but it doesn’t help. Checking the server log doesn’t give me any clear info except for some strange URL it’s referring to:

    Turn off means deactivate 🙂

You’re trying to import this into one, separate, single instal of WP,r ight?

    Thread Starter vrensen

    (@vrensen)

No, i’m trying to import it into a sub-folder of the same multisite installation. In fact its the dame sub-folder as where this other thread is about. Importing files in other sub-folders works well.
