By Users I mean, subscribers. I have to restore a site from a WXR and I have 1200 users. I want it to be seemless so they don’t even notice a difference. So their subscriber account and password must be the same.

The old site is still in partial working condition.
    Thanks.

I also am searching everywhere for this answer. If you find out please post!!

I need to Export my users including email & passwords, from my old blog on WP 2.5, or my database backup. Then I want to Import Users to my new blog, new database, new URL, WP 2.6.

I could use a Plugin *OR* phpMyAdmin. Anyone know how to do this?

Copy the contents of the users and the usermeta table from the old database to the new (empty!) database. Make sure the secret keys are the same. And then that should be that, I think.

Thanks for replying Otto42. By the way I upgraded so now the OLD site and the NEW site are both running WP 2.6.

    (1) You said “empty!” database… I’ve already installed WP 2.6 and it’s running on the new database. There is only 1 user so far (me, the admin). Is this “empty” enough for me to do it?

    (2) Is the secret-key in my wp-config, or in my database?

    1. Probably empty enough.
    2. In the wp-config file.
