BuddyPress and Events website

I would like to build a social eating site like Eat With:
http://www.eatwith.com/

I was wondering if there is any ready theme or plugin that I can use or if I should play with BuddyPress and some Events Management plugin, maybe building a custom plugin to integrate both of them.

What would be your approach?
