Moving from Sub-Directory to Root

Hello folks,

Over the last few months I’ve made several up-dates to two of my WordPress powered sites. To ensure the site run smoothly while these up-dates were occurring I built these new versions (they were pretty much complete overhauls) in sub-directories. Now everything is done, I’m wondering if I can move the files back to the root directory OR delete the files from the root that aren’t needed (in other words, the files of the old site).

Will doing this stuff my sites up? The above mentioned rebuilds are the only times I’ve built in a sub-directory so I’m not a pro at all this. ^_^

P.S. Do you need the URLs of the sites for this? New or old or both?
