Thanks for a great plugin. I just updated to 4.0.1. Am I missing something in the settings? I can’t see anywhere where I can place a message for customers to aknowledge that we have receive their testimonial.
Once a testimonial is submitted, the page just reload. People have no idea if it worked and if the testimonial has been sent or not. No redirection to another page or no message to let people know that the testimonial has been submitted successfully.

When a testimonial is successfully submitted there is a message in green at the top of the form saying “Testimonial was submitted – Thank you”.

There is no message. There used to be a message with previous version but since I updated there is nothing.

I took a look at the page and sent you a few testimonials and have not been able to determine why the Submitted – Thankyou is not there.

The Testimonial Basics plugin uses a Session flag as a trigger to print the message, and my first thought is that the session variable is not being set. But the Captcha also uses a session variable so session variables are working.

I downloaded your WordPress Theme Atahualpa and set it up on a test bed and it worked fine, so I can only conclude that you have made some changes to the theme or the formatting that is preventing it from showing.

Have you made any changes to the Theme code or the Testimonials Basics code?

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at the page. I haven’t made any changes to the theme or Testimonials basics code.

I had version 3.20.6 before and it was working fine. I tried to revert back manually to that version but somehow the form was all scrambled up. Like a CSS problem. But the message was there after submitting the form. Anyway I upgraded back again to 4.0.1 so at least the form looks OK.

I will take another look when I get a chance.

    Sorry pbm160

I took another look and can’t find the problem. It is extremely difficult to troubleshoot the problem when you can’t duplicate the problem. I tried again on the testbed and everything works fine.

It still seems to me that the session variable is not there. If the plugin can’t find it then it won’t display the message.

A couple of more troubleshooting ideas:

    1) Is your theme up-to-date?

    2) De-activate all your other plugins (Do not delete them) except Testimonial Basics and see if that makes a difference. If it does then re-activate the plugins one at at time testing the testimonial submission each time, until you find the problem. One of the plugins may be removing the session after it is done with it. If you find a problem plugin, let me know and I will take a look at it.

    Hi Kevin
I followed your advice and deactivated one by one plugins that I updated lately. I found the culprit! WordPress SEO version 1.4.24
When it is deactivated the “Submitted. Thank you” message from Testimonials Basics appears at the top of page.

OK I will take a look when I get a chance.

    Hi pbm160

I have taken a look at it and been able to duplicate your problem.
It is a combination of having all three in one site, the theme Atahualpa, the plugins WordPress SEO, and Testimonial basics.

The message prints fine with WordPress SEO and other themes (I tested twentyfourteen, and my own theme expressions. The message prints fine wit the Atahualpa theme without WordPress SEO installed.

The problem when all three are installed is that the page is reloading more than once after the testimonial is submitted. After the first load I turn off the switch to print the message, So on the second load the message does not appear, which is what you end up seeing.

Anyway, I’m working on an update to show a javascript popup message. I will update testimonial-basics when it is ready.

    Hi pbm160

    4.0.3 has just been released.

It gives the user a option under the Inputs tab to “Use a popup thank you”

    This should solve your problem.

    Thanks. Problem solved. Works great!
