newsletter in thunderbird does not show images although links to images are in

When I create a newsletter via post to newsletter and sent it, in thunderbird I do not see the images. When I safe as .eml and check the HTML the src attribute of the image shows the right url.
When I sent a news letter to the same address from Mail chimp I see the images in thunderbird.
in Mailchimp html:
