I have successfully created custom circles but can’t get them to alternate with my circles that link to posts. I have tried changing the post dates, but it doesn’t make a difference. So, right now I have a row of posts (which I can change the order of) and then a row of custom circles.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to get the post circles and custom circles to alternate with each other?

    Thanks much.

I used the technique posted by Andrew Nevins (big thanks!), that can be found here:

I did write a way to change the order of custom circles and it’s muddled up in a thread or two somewhere.

I’ll try to fish this out later and create a proper guide.

I think I know what you’re referring to. I did see a thread but I thought it would only reorder the custom circles and not the post circles. I will take another look and give it a shot later today.

Thanks for all your help on here.

Sorry, to clarify is this what you want?

I think I understand what can be confusing here.

The code I wrote reorders the Custom Circles, and that re-ordering does affect the normal circles.

For example your Custom Circle can be last on the page by default, then you can give it an order of “1” and it’ll be first on the page; moving all normal circles along one position to the right.

What I’ve restricted to the Custom Circles is the ability to enter the order. The field to enter the order only appears on a custom circle.

Be careful when following some of these guidelines. Sometimes my answers are specific to the person’s situation. Sometimes suggestions made in one of those threads will not work for your situation.

So, I gave some things from this thread a try: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/custom-circles-order?replies=28

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me. Let me know if you had a different thread in mind or any other ideas.

    Thanks.

Thanks Andrew. Sorry I couldn’t respond for a couple days. The site is setonandsean.com and the password is “permission.”

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Which circle did you apply the order to?

    (@smangine)

I applied the order to custom circles I created – although now I see that the custom circles aren’t currently showing. That’s a new problem I’ll have to take a look at. I currently have two custom circles created. You can see below the first two circles that the cursor changes – that’s where they are although you can’t see them.

    I’ll have to investigate later.
