Create a horizontall bar

Hello, I’m creating a web using wordpress. I’ve edited the header.php to created kind of a rectangular horizontall bar, colored, just for the template not to be so empty. I did it while working at a localhost. But now I’ve updated the website online and that dissapeared, and I can’t find how I did it in the first place. Please, if someone have an idea, tell me!
