Sorry to see you’re hitting some other problems here. Can you try the following steps:
- Switch to a default, unmodified theme
- Ensure The Events Calendar is up-to-date and deactivate all other plugins
- Visit Settings → Permalinks (but don’t make any changes, visiting it is sufficient to flush the rewrite rules)
Now see if the problem with category view persists. Does this make any difference?

I tried this and it seems to be working with an unmodified twenty thirteen theme. I am using a mysitemyway.com theme (dejavu theme) and I think it is a problem related to the theme. I love the theme and this plugin but something is not working between the two 🙂 I have several issues with calendar links not working and the calendar formatting being weird but I believe they are all due to the dejavu theme. I am going to try to tackle them one at a time with the theme developer. Thanks!

Hmm, yep unfortunately there have been not infrequent issues reported with that stable of themes and at least here on the wordpress.org forum we just don’t have sufficient bandwidth to offer much further help in resolving this kind of thing.

So that categories are not listed on single event pages you mean? If so, yes, you can customize any part of the single event template you like (and in this case – with regards to the category list – you would probably also need to learn some basics about our meta walker):

The meta walker can be a slightly tricky area but you may also find one or two examples over on the tri.be site showing the basic mechanics.
