wp-cron issue

Hi

None of my future dated, “future” status posts, seem to become publish, when the future date becomes current.
The admin area counts down “2 minutes, 1 minutes” when I refresh the scheduled post page. But when 0 minutes is expected, and the post is expected to go live, the time starts increasing again, minute by minute….and yes in this time, I have refreshed the front end of my blog several times, but doing so doesn’t help.

I have checked and can not work out where the function function wp_cron() in cron.php gets referenced. According to the codex it has 1 definition and 0 references.(http://thor.oucio.us/xref/wordpress/nav.html?_functions/index.html)
Also I am using WP2.5x.
