Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Woocommerce & Yoast SEO "Author Archive" Not Found

  • I’ve built a nice store using Woocommerce, and also have the Yoast SEO plugin installed on the website. Today I discovered that when I click on an author name in the metadata of a post, it takes me to “Page Not Found”.

I deactivated all plugins and the author archives suddenly began working again, though I had to reactivate Yoast again for this to happen (otherwise it would redirect me to my homepage, though the url showed I should have been seeing the author archive).

When Woocommerce is activated again, the Page Not Found problem comes back with just Yoast and Woocommerce activated. Something wonky is amiss with the two plugins, irrespective of my theme (I confirmed this by switching to Twenty-Thirteen).

Can someone advise me on what I might do? I can’t sacrifice the Woocommerce plugin and shouldn’t have to, as I have a nice store I need to keep as part of my site. I have no idea what to do. Please advise.

Incidentally, if I change my permalink structure to default, the author archive works again. However, I am using /%postname%/ structure, which returns the Page Not Found.

Found a fix, in case anyone ever encounters this. I installed the Edit Author Slug plugin via WordPress, found here: http://wordpress.org/plugins/edit-author-slug/

I changed the default /author/ structure to /sz-author/, an acronym for my website. The author archives now show, with both Yoast and Woocommerce enabled.

Very happy now. This is why I love WordPress – there is almost always a plugin to help you out of a jam.
