This issue occurs when the delivery type is “Send Email.”
The success message appears when “Inline” and “Both” delivery types are set.
Hi djspur,
Thanks for communicating and reporting issues to us.
We have just tested “Send Email” type and got the message “Your message was sent successfully. Thanks.”
We used this shortcut for testing [email-download download_id=”5″ contact_form_id=”4″ delivered_as=”Send Email”].
Btw, if you use similar approach, can you confirm that the value of the attribute doesn’t have extra dot at the end as in your message “Send Email.”?

Thank you so much for responding. I have not been able to get the success message after adding the shortcode [delivered_as=”Send Email”] but thank you for clarifying that individual pages / posts can specify this.
My page currently uses the code:
<div class="ebd-box">
<div class="ebd-box-content">[email-download download_id="3" contact_form_id="317" delivered_as="Send Email"]</div></div>
I have changed themse to a standard “Twenty Fourteen” theme and tested as well.
There must have been something that went wrong after installing another plugin, maybe?
The only thing I can think of doing at this point to “fix” is uninstalling and re-installing these plugins … since all my data is still test data I’m not too worried, but I wish I understood what I did to get my installation to lose a nice feature.
Of course there’s always the workaround to use the “Both” option even with my “broken” installation.
Let me know if you have any other ideas or suggestions, and thank you for your support!
Hi djspur,
What you suggest looks good and we would probably do the same. Especially since you still work with test data and there’s no risk to lose anything important.
Please let us know if you manage to find what is responsible for the issue you describe.
