I'm quite new to this, and am having a good 'ol time trying to get this working.
I have a basic site up, with an ordering page that I want to point people to my successful order page when the money goes through paypal.
Anyway, I've made the pages private, and they can't be found in IE and older versions of FF.
so if my url is, http://www.mywebsite.com/orderpage
If I type that in using IE or other browsers, it says content not found??? Any ideas on how to fix it?
it's not IE that's the problem, it's the fact that you're probably not logged in, in IE and whatever other browsers you use.
Private means private - only people of sufficient user-level can access those pages (at the moment, that's probably only you when you're logged in)
I think maybe you want to investigate the wp_list_pages() function, to change which pages are visible in your sidebar, or navigation menu.
That way, you can make them public, but not in-your-face.
