• I just discovered that I have far more 404 errors than previously estimated (thank you Google Webmasters Tools… sheesh).

Literally a few thousand URLs from the really old Movable Type setup, before we switched over to WordPress (more than 7 years ago)… can Redirection handle that many?

I like Redirection because I can keep the redirects in some sort of order, but every now and then re-ordering will fail, get stuck. The only way I know to fix it is to navigate away from the Redirection page in the admin area and back.

I just want to make sure that adding a few thousand redirects won’t cause any problems.

I think I figured out what’s going on.

When you add a redirect, the actual URLs entered stay present in the fields. When those fields are not empty, re-ordering the redirects fails.

That’s why navigating away from the Redirection settings and back again fixes the problem… it clears those “Add new redirection” fields.
