Related Content is Nice, Except for This…

    The Related Content feature is nice in the new version, but it definitely needs more options.

    For example, it’s displaying my Disclosure and Privacy pages as available for “You May Also Like” in the display.

    That’s pretty silly, so I’m removing it for now and going with nRelate until there are more options available where I can choose what to display and what to hide.

    Thanks for the instructions. However, I do not have a ‘Recommendations / Related Content General Settings’ anywhere in my General Settings section in WP, even with “Related Content / Recommendations” reinstated within the plugin.

    I am using WP 3.8

    No, I didn’t… Thanks. It’s still showing the pages I selected to hide as well as a page I have in my trash. Honestly? I don’t want to have to remember every single time I create a page that I have to hide it and I need something with more display options as well.

    Make sure you’re running the latest version of the plugin (v7+) — it sounds like it will give you all the options you’re looking for AND more. We have 8+ display options out of the box for Related Content and you can customize via CSS as well. You’ll also get the option to exclude entire categories.

    Note: Once you make a change to the exclusion list, it can take up to an hour for the updates to roll through to all the servers.

    I’m running 7.0.9.0, which came directly from the WordPress repository.

    I checked the boxes to exclude certain pages from related content and I do understand that takes time. It’s 10 a.m. right now my time, changes still haven’t taken effect. I’ll give it until early this afternoon to reflect those changes.

    At the moment we show 6 recommendations automatically, though there are some CSS tweaks I can send you, if you let me know what style you’d like, that will change the number of recommendations shown and their image sizes.
