It's really annoying!
I add several values for custom fields to a post, save the post and publish it.
Then I must find that not all of the custom fields were saved!
So far, I had to edit every post I created a second time and add the custom field information.
The custom field feature is a disaster!
the custom field feature works perfectly, its just that they are not saved when they're added.
you still have to save the post itself.
you think because the ajax puts it into the list that it's now in the database - not so, until you save the post properly using the big grey save button.

No. I do it just like I wrote it.
I add the fields.
I then save the post and/or publish it.
The fields are still missing.
You must log in to post.
