• I am trying to submit a plugin and for some reason it tells me the name has already been taken an yet I can’t find it when I search for the plugin with that name.

I don’t know if I just missed my chance or someone has taken it a while back and is either not using it any more or has not uploaded the plugin yet.

Can any one tell me if they are using the following names for there plugin please so that I can rule them out.

    Thank you.

    • WordPress Apple Tags
    • WordPress Apple Meta Tags
    • WordPress Meta Tags for Apple
    • WordPress Tags for Apple Devices

Which one is the name you want? Also I don’t think you can use “WordPress” in plugin names anymore.

WordPress Apple Tags is what I currently call the plugin so if I can have that as the name, that would be most appreciated.

@manojrohtela It is not listed. Many other plugins start with WordPress so why will it not accept my title when adding my plugin?

    I get this message:

That name already exists. Please choose another name.

There is nothing that I can find that states we can not use WordPress as the first word in our plugin name but I guess I have no choice but to change it to get the plugin approved and uploaded.

I have now requested ‘Apple Meta Tags’ as my plugin name.

The guidelines are well a guide.

In my opinion putting WordPress in the plugin name is a) redundant (it’s a WordPress plugin) and b) sounds like WordPress (the organization) endorses your plugin as an “official” plugin. Removing that retroactively would probably be a real challenge but going forward that is something that can be done.

That’s just my opinion mind you as I am not part of that (really hard working!) team.
