  • That message means you did not get some file uploaded to your site successfully.

Delete (do not just copy over) the wp-admin and wp-includes directories and resend them to your site. Do not delete the wp-content directory.

    Hi,

I am doing an upgrade to 2.5 and I ran into similar error. I have tried deleting the 2 dir and but it doesn’t seems to work.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_option() in /home/learns2/public_html/community/wp-admin/admin.php on line 9

    Please help

Typically an error like that means at least one WordPress files in not intact.

I’d first consider deleting the WordPress files, then reupload, per Steps 7 and 8 in Upgrading_WordPress_Extended.

Would it have something to do with my .htaccess file? I cannot locate the file. Can I create a new one?

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_option()

This is caused by a missing file not your htaccess. Upload them again to your site. Do not just copy over.

check if your config file has the correct parameters. also ensure that you did not use a html editor to edit the file, sometimes stuff goes wrong and stuff gets added- just use wordpress
