Twenty Eleven – replace list bullets on pages to display image

Trying to replace square bullets on a web page using Twenty Eleven 1.7 with an image and am having no luck.

Have tried using:

ul {
/list-style: square;
list-style-image: url(http:www.domainname.com/image.png);
}”

Have even tried adding “p”, “#page” and “body” at different times, before the “ul”, but I still cannot get the image to display.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.
