• Recently updated to 3.8 and now I cannot publish or even save a new post. Only option is to submit for review. Any ideas how to fix this issue.

    If the only option is submit for review, your user role is most likely set to ‘editor’. Are you able to go to ‘Users’ and change user roles?

    Yes, and I,m still listed as an administrator.

    Have you tried switching themes and seeing if the issue persists?

    No. Never had an issue with my theme. What effect will this have on my site? I’m fearful this would create more issues than it would solve.

    Switching themes to test out an underlying problem will not be an issue. Obviously switching over themes will cause a temporary disruption (menus not displaying properly, overall theme will probably just display poorly, custom styles functions etc will not exist)

    But you can test out the posting functionality. If it works on a new theme, then most likely an issue with the current theme. If not you can switch back to the current active theme , and your site will be just as it is now without issue.

    You can switch back to your main theme. Can you try deactivating all of the plugins to see if this resolves the issue? Deactivating the plugins just temporarily disables them (you will not lose your settings).

    I just tried the “quick draft” option from the dashboard (with my original theme) and it allowed me save a post and then edit and/or publish it from there. So I’m not sure why the “New Post” option from the menu on the left doesn’t allow me to do the same.

    I deactivated all plugins and the problem still exists.

    Can you post a link to your site?

    Just to be sure, have you tried clearing your browser cache and tried another browser?

    If so, I’d actually try renaming the plugins folder using FTP or Cpanel – to be sure they’ve fully deactivated. Then, while they are deactivated, switch to a default theme. See if that changes anything.

    If not, download a new copy of WP to your local computer and using FTP, replace all files and folders EXCEPT wp-content, wp-config and .htaccess. Make sure to delete the old copies before uploading the new versions.

    I am having the same problem. I discovered that I can save while in visual editor, but not while in text editor.

    My problem was caused by the Jetpack Spelling and Grammar function being activated.
