    Hello,

I had πŸ™ a wordpress blog post maintained at http://www.danielsrepublic.com/country
Unfortunately when upgrading, without taking a back up, i did so and i have the error that you see.
I now have the csv file, the sql file and the database file.

I want this to be restored.
I am willing to pay if necessary.
The solution provider needs to first demonstrate the recovery in the third party location and then after payment can do so at the said location.

    Thanks.

  • Those kind of errors are usually the result of a missing curly brace inside the file.

Here’s my advice, and it won’t cost you a cent (I’ve done nearly 100 WP upgrades in the last 6-8 months, all without a hitch).

    Delete the following folders:
    /wp-includes
    /wp-admin

Delete all the *.php files in the WP root EXCEPT:
    wp-config.php
    .htaccess

Reupload fresh files and re-run the upgrade script (at http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php).

Should be fine then. If not, contact me offlist and I can try to help you. Your *.sql file IS your database file, BTW.

Looks like you’re back up and running! πŸ˜‰

what happens if i deleted the .htaccess file? i dont think i even see that file in the root, i must have deleted it by accident. is there some way to recover it

Most FTP clients hide that by default. You usually have to view it using a filter (like “-la” for WS FTP) to see files with the dot first like .htaccess. So you likely did not delete it. What FTP client do you use?
