Since upgrading to 3.8 I have lost the editor (not visual), and ability to change my background picture/colour. Customize doesn’t have any option to change this. I have no ability now to access the footer.php or other .php files through the dashboard. HElp!

  • What happens when you disable all your plugins and activate the default Twenty Fourteen theme? If that fixes the issue re-activate your plugins one by one to see what is causing the problem.

    Hi Patrick,

    You were very close…

The issue is with the Pixel Happy Theme that I am using.

I deactivated the plugins and switched themes as you suggested. The issue was resolved still when I reactivated all the plugins. Switching back to Pixel Happy Theme resulted in the same issue appearing again, and deactivating plugins had no effect on this.

So, I assume this is an issue where Pixel Happy has not been updated to support the new WordPress 3.8?

Pixel Happy — that’s a Genesis Child Theme, right? It’s no longer being sold on their site but you may want to contact them. I also asked in a Genesis FB group here.

I have tested Pixel Happy on one of my own sites. So far as I can tell, it is working just fine.

Has your version been customised? There is no footer.php included in the theme. There is a file footer-widgeted.php howver, I found I could access and edit it without any problems.

If someone customised the theme for you, then I would suggest you contact them for help. Otherwise, I would suggest you open a support ticket at Studiopress.
