   Here's a link to the site I built in WP, was my first time using WP, which was primarily used as a site CMS owners to add content rather than having a third party maintain the site.

   very nice dawg! can't be your first time building a site though - right. very pro, really used wp as a cms. I saw the loop is in the what's new section. very good use of wp. keep it up

   yes, not my first site, but my first with wordpress and any kind of php, "what's new" is the primary blog page, but the events, opportunities, paint and a couple of others use a customized loop to show specified categories, even in the what's new, if you check you will not see any events listed as they are listed separately

   i find wp very powerful but sometimes i need tweak some code or add my own functions to get it to do whats asked for, which is not as easy as it sound considering my understanding of php is terrible, but I'm getting better
