How to get a counter as mashable does in their pages?

I’m a part student startup and accidentally got the responsibility of design and development of our technology blog. I tried out lots of things using some plugins and some other tools to get a number of shares using a php script of the current post. We’ve seen that thing in most of the popular websites and premium+free themes, how to make such a system ? I’m only 17 and self learner of coding. never got a professional teaching of this things in my life. So i expect something really easy enough.
