You will need to add a line to your header.php file (Edits to parent themes are lost on theme update, so a Child Theme is greatly recommended for them work)
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="yoursite.com/path_here/file_name.ico" />
This goes just under the <head>
Note: some themes have an option for this…so ask theme provider if so first.
Are you referring to the header.php file in Appearance–>Editor?
Are you referring to the header.php file in Appearance–>Editor?
Yes, but best to do so in a Child Theme.
I want to add my tab icon to the address bar, anyone know how I can do this?
Take a look at the picture, you can see the icon on the tab, I want that to also be where the little page icon with a dog ear in the address bar is.

Did you try the plugin I linked to above?
Yes. All it did was add the icon to the tab.
Isn’t that what you are asking about how to do?
In Chrome, that is where the icon goes now, in IE it may display inline with the URL and the tab. I believe all browsers are set to follow suite and the inline icon in the url box will be an icon that describes the type of site or known security issues (red x) etc.
