• Hi,

Just checking to see if anyone knows if podPress is still being actively developed? The author’s site seems to have gone to a GoDaddy parking page and it hasn’t been updated in a year.

If not, what are people using for podcasting?

  • Bummer on that. Registration Expires on: 26-Apr-08

GoDaddy will screw you hard if your domain does not get renewed… they will put it into “redemption”, which will give the owner the “right” to redeem his domain for an exhorbitant amount… last time I checked it was $89.95 or so.

Ever wonder why GoDaddy is so cheap for domain registration? It’s because they make their money on the redemption fees.

Once again, I reiterate: F@#K GoDaddy. Spend slightly more per year for a legitimate registrar. If you manage a large number of domains, the peace of mind of getting frequent updates from your registrar, and the ability to retrieve domains that have gone past their registration date, will more than make up for the slightly higher cost per domain. Your customers will thank you, believe me.

    Maybe try Podcasting plugin:

I’m going to give it a shot for my blogs that have used PodPress.

I am using podpress 8.8. Downloaded it from his site, which is now parked by godaddy, about 3 weeks ago. This was an update from 8.5. A fairly recent update as I understand it. Certainly newer than a year.

You may want so try and find the developer in other ways, either by his name or his apparent screen name: Dan Kuykendall (Seek3r) and ask him directly.

I’m using podpress until it breaks or is clearly out of dev. v8.8 is working great under WP 2.5.1 for me.

    Good luck!

I hope they keep working on it. It is definitely the best and easiest way to publish a podcast with WordPress.

podPress is far from dead. I just forgot to pay the domain registration, and godaddy rarely misses a chance to show one of their parked pages.

Anyways, podPress is far from dead. Ive been spending these last couple of months re-designing the codebase to clean up as much as I could and split the core into its own lib which is now being ported to drupal and joomla for those using those platforms. podPress itself benefits by way of the new design and more customizable template system.

anyways, the update will be posted in the next couple of weeks

    @seek3r,

Glad to hear it! Looking forward to the update.

Good N3WZ. I’ll check out your Joomla component because I use that CMS for larger corporate sites. The 1.5 version is much simplified over the previous 1.0.x, but it’s still not quite there as a solution because many of the important component additions are still in beta.

Does anyone know the solution to the podpress podPressPostSpecific error message I’m experiencing?

    I’m using wp 2.5.1 and podpress 8.8
