• We are migrating sites from older wordpress into our new multisite wordpress

we create the export file, then go to the multisite we wish to import to, choose the WP xml file to import

our authors are already registered, so we select them

we also choose to download and import the images for the posts

eventually, the import function times out (after about a half hour or so) and then given a 404 message for “step two”

when I look – only 1 post of 37 has been imported, and there are THOUSANDS of images – all the same image duped.

Other users had attempted to do imports several times. Right now, I have almost 100k duplicated images of various posts sitting on my server. Thank the gods I have ftp access for deleting all those dupes via the interface would be something MOST tedious.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of behavior?

To note, we have several domains in our multisite, each domain is treated separately, but feeds to a central site. All sites have a parant/child theme setup based on the central site.

Bump deleted – If you’re in THAT much of a bind, go to http://jobs.wordpress.net and hire someone.

Try importing without pulling in the images, and just FTP the images into the new location?
