   maybe i'm doing something wrong here : i created a page, and i wanted to select another template.
   All i could see was a selectionbox with Default Template. I cannot see all other templates i created in this selection.

   Templates meant to be used with pages need a "Template Name: xxxx" header. Example:
   /*
Template Name: Archives
*/

   I've got this. Templates are working for me within my regular blog. When i create a new page (edit-pages.php [under manage] ) , in the bottom is there an option for adding a different template to the page. The only thing i see there is a selectionbox with Default Template.

   Is your new template file in /wp-content/themes/whatever theme you're using/ ?
