Since the upgrade, I’ve been having multiple issues, particularly with plug-ins within the admin panel. For example, when trying to deactivate certain plug-ins, it says plug-in deactivated but sometimes it will still show active (never had this issue before 3.8). Also, within UpdraftPlus plug-in settings, when I try to change the schedule interval of my back-up, it says settings saved, but then it doesn’t actually show the new settings.

Hopefully 3.8 fixes these bugs soon!

    Try flushing all your caches.

There shouldn’t be any issues, but you may want to consider the possibility that you have a plugin or theme conflict. You should try turning off all your plugins and see if that goes away.

This appears to be a WordPress software issue. I would not think caching would impact my backend WP admin panel from correctly showing changes that I make within the admin panel. It does not seem specific to one plug-in.

Based on the timing of when this issue started (after WP upgrade) and that it is impacting multiple plug-ins in WP admin panel, this appears to me to be a bug with WP 3.8.

As an example, when I select multiple plug-ins, or just one, and deactivate, it says plug-in deactivated, but it still shows as activated (and it appears to still be active). Sometimes if I try multiple times or deactivate in a different sequence, it will work, but it seems like a crapshoot.

I am definitely regretting the upgrade!

    Anyone else having this issue?

I manually re-installed WP 3.8, but the problem persists (although it may be a little better). Again, activating/deactivating plug-ins and changing some settings for plug-ins works inconsistently (note: when it doesn’t work, it still says “setting saved” or plug-in activated / deactivated” at the top, but the change is not shown nor seemed to have worked). I have only experienced this issue since the 3.8 upgrade.

I use quite a lot of plug-ins, and I need this WP functionality working.

    Any help/ideas please?

    Thanks.

Again, the WP issue goes beyond just activating/deactivating plug-ins, but also changing plug-in settings. Some of the settings within a plug-in can successfully be changed while, for others, it will appear to be changed (WP displays message that setting changed), but it does not. It is not specific to one plug-in or setting, and I did not have this issue before all my issues that started last week (around the WP 3.8 upgrade).

I have some important functions within plug-in settings (security, restricted access, backup) that are currently not working, so I need to find a fix soon.

I’ve reinstalled the core WP files (3.8) and deactivated all plug-ins (and tried activating individual plug-ins one by one). I’ve also switched from my Headway theme to the default WP theme, but that did not appear to solve it.

Anyone have any other thoughts please?

After pushing my hosting company further (DreamHost/DreamPress), it turns out it was related to my caching, since now it works after they flushed memcaching for Varnish (the caching program they use)…

My guess is the WP 3.8 upgrade still somehow triggered this, but I’m not quite sure how.
