Love this plugin. Only issue is whatever content I put in the bbPress post, the email that was sent out doesn’t have any linefeeds or breaks, which makes it very hard to read and makes the author looks very unprofessional (as if she didn’t put any line breaks in herself).

Any ideas how to fix this?

    Thanks,
    Ben

I’ll look into making the emails multipart/alternative when I have some time.

I will not work multipart/alternative for the time being, but did add a replacement of <br> tags for newlines. Please upgrade to version 1.4 and let me know how it goes.

Thanks! I will give it a try and let you know how it goes.

    Hi Ben,

Just letting you know that version 1.5.1 introduces the bbpnns_extra_headers filter which you can use to force sending emails as HTML. Note that you’ll need to have HTML in the email templates, of course, or you won’t see any difference.

Sorry, I haven’t had a chance to try out the
tag. However, I am not sure that’s the best solution. I want to have non-tech users be able to write up a post, and not having to know they need to put a
if they want a line feed. Also, sending emails as HTML is not ideal either. Is having linefeeds where they should be that difficult? Just curious.

I have not used the forum to make a post because my users get an email that is very unreadable. Here is an example:

    Hi everyone,
A few parents asked me last night about tournaments for the upcoming weekends and whether they should go (and which ones to go to).
First, I highly recommend that if your child has went to one or two tourneys in the past few weeks, they continue to build on them by going the next few ones if possible. Tournaments are the best way to practice what they learned at chess club. Like anything else, the more they compete, the better they get. And like other sports, competing regularly is much better than competing sporadically.
This Saturday – I suggest going to St. Eugene Catholic in Fox Point. Close to home, and like last weekend, they have a U500 division. That means except for a few kids, all of you can sign up as Homestead and form a team again!
Next Saturday (02/01) – Discovery World – There are already 79 players signed up! Free admission to Discovery World. Note that you might want to sign up ASAP as it is $25 by end of today and $30 after tonight. $40 onsite.
Next Next Saturday (02/08) – Evangel Assembly of God – I am only recommending this one because it is a club tournament. So ALL of our kids can be on a team (doesn’t matter what school they go to). And the guy running it is a regular TD for tournaments (he helps out a lot for WSCF).

    Thanks for working on this.

    Hi Ben,

Did you try out version 1.4? Users should get the
automatically when they create newlines. If it’s not working for your users, then it’s likely I’m not catching the right regex pattern (perhaps a </p>\s*<p>).

I’ll look further into it over the weekend.

And I just found a bug in my attempt to fix that newline issue. No wonder it wasn’t working. Sorry about that. I’ll have it fixed asap.

Thanks! Will test as soon as you get it fixed.

1.5.3 has been released with a fix for the content. Note that the newlines have been applied to the topic/reply content, not to the excerpt, so make sure you use [topic-content] and [reply-content] in your email template.

    Cheers,
    Vinny

    Hi Vinny,

Just did a quick test and it is working properly. Thanks so much!
