    Hi,

First I’d like to say that I am very happy with this plug-in. In deed it has some issues, but it’s a very ambious photo gallery and I think the team has done a great job.

My question is more along the line of documentation. I don’t understand why the speed of the photo gallery is so lacking. I change the resample value to 1 – thinking it would go faster, but it still seems the same. I don’t know what resample does, but I don’t see any other means of speeding up the image transitions. Thanks.

  • About which speed are you talking ? The loading of the page or a image ?

The resample quality is only used when you generate new images/thumbnails…

I’m talking about loading the image. The gallery and album load is just fine. When a person clicks on an image to view it – the loading time for that is very very slow.

Mhh, it depend of the image resolution and your server speed. Try to reduce the resolution for a sample image and post some link to you page

Hi- Likewise I’m impressed with NextGen gallery but I’m having slow performance problems (Dreamhost shared hosting, which isn’t speedy).
I’ve been uploading larger “Full size” images using the original images from a 7mp camera so the files are like 1.8 to 2.2mb in size.
I thought this was OK because I thought that NextGen would generate SinglePic images (set to 800×600) and cache those on the server so future visitors would see the reduced SinglePic images and wouldn’t have to wait for the compression on the server. Is this a misunderstanding of how it works? A few questions on the subject:
    1) Should I downsample the original (Full Size) images first if I want faster loading times with SinglePic images even after the caching has worked?
    2) Is there way under “Manage Gallery” to generate cached versions of all the pics or do I just need to view them all once as “SinglePic”
    3) Will CacheWP or SuperCache speed up SinglePic loading or is that just for whole pages?
    Thanks, Nicholas
