  • hmmm… is that all the error message said?

That line is the beginning of the code that pareses the feed. The two parsing options are:
    1. via the SimplePie Core Plugin (simplepie.org)
    2. via the SimpleXML functions in PHP5

Can you install/activiate the SimplePie Core plugin and then retry the Profilactic plugin?

If that doesn’t work, I can put together a version of the script with debugging code so we can figure out what is triggering your error.

    Regards.

I tried activated the SimplePie Core plugin and then tried to activate the Profilactic plug in and I ran into the same problem.

Thanks guys. I am troubleshooting this with another user and will report back in a few days.

I think I’ve found and fixed the code causing this crash. Please test and verify the latest release.

    Regards.

Not sure if this is same issue, downloaded latest edition of WP and this plugin. Installing it resulted in following error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘{‘ in /home/ultrarac/public_html/justbloggin/myblogg/wp-content/plugins/profilactic/profilactic.php on line 341

Also installed and activated SimplePie Core plugin.

    Cheers, Colin.

I also get the syntax error @ line 341 that colin.gardom reported.
This is with SimplePie Core 1.1.1 and Profilactic 1.2, downloaded just a few hours ago.

I am also getting this error with the latest version of WP and Profilactic AND with Simplecore installed! Would love to use this and hope the developer can get this fixed!

    @colin.gardom, @hornlo, @nealtaylor,

The cause of the original problem was resolved in 1.2 and verified by the user.

However, if you can send me your contact info, I can send you a debug version of the plugin that can help pinpoint the cause. Either leave your email here or send me a message at prof@opindian.com.

    Regards,

The issue has been found and fixed. Try v1.2.1

    Regards.

I have simplepie-core installed and have attempted to install version 1.2.1 of this plugin. I am still getting the following error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘{‘ in /homepages/8/d90465843/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/profilactic/profilactic.php on line 337

    Please advise.

    Jacob

Sorry to say but I have the same problem as jacobburke. =(

I also have the same problem. Very frustrating.

    Hi

    My activation error is:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: parse error, unexpected ‘{‘ in /home/content/t/h/e/theloyalfew/html/newsite/wp-content/plugins/profilactic/profilactic.php on line 337

This is the latest version, downloaded today. Any thoughts?

    Ian

    Hi ahpatel,

I’m getting the same error. Full text:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected ‘{‘ in /home/tommy/public_html/wp-content/plugins/profilactic/profilactic.php on line 337

Taking a look at line 337 leads to a try statement. Try is something introduced in PHP 5 (I’m on PHP 4). I’m wondering if the others experiencing this are on PHP 4, too?

    Can’t wait for a fix.

My apologies… in my haste to get this out before I left for Memorial Day, I accidentally published the wrong file.

The update (v1.2.2) *should* really take care of this! Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Regards.
