YARPP updating of cache

3rd question, just curious about the process of updating the YARPP cache as new posts are added. I would assume that when YARPP is queried for a post, besides checking the cache it also looks at all posts published since the cache date for the queried post, updating the post’s cache of related posts as necessary. Is that something like it?
