Critical / security update details?

A bunch of us are using a fork of this (because the author never responded to emails, tweets, etc, and we fixed a series of bugs + added missing features).
I’m worried by the news there was a “critical security fix” – what was this, and what had to be changed? (so we can change it in our fork).
Obviously … would be ideal if the author would stop saying “follow me on twitter”, happy to get followers on his account but completely ignores them, and supply an actual, working email address he’d respond to.
