Not sure about anyone else but I find it redundant having “You are not currently logged in” above a log-in dialog – isn’t it obvious the visitor is not logged in???

Anyone know of an elegant and non-destructive (does not disappear with each plugin update) way to remove this text?

There is a filter hook for the sidebar login form, wpmem_sidebar_form. The hook is documented here.

That string of text is part of the html that is passed through that filter, so you could remove it with php’s str_replace function.
