Display latest posts in slider only

Hi, I’m using Gamepress theme where Nivo slider displays the 3 newest posts. Below the slider box older posts are supposed to show up, however right now the newest posts are displayed too. I don’t want to have the newest post published twice, only in the Nivo slider. Then once it becomes older (=3 new articles get published) it should move out from the slider box automatically and appear below it in the column. The option “posting specific category in slider” does not help. Is there a CSS code I should apply or is there any other solution?
