Just installed Jetpack 2.6 and attempted to toggle Monitor on, but I received the following error:

Only the user who initiated the Jetpack connection on this site can toggle Monitor, but that user no longer exists. This should not happen.

I logged in as the admin user who initiated the Jetpack connection, but between when that occurred and now, the userid for this user has been changed (so that I no longer have any user with a userid of 1). Is there any way around this, without changing my userid back to 1?

    Thanks!

Could you go to the Jetpack menu, disconnect from WordPress.com, and reconnect using that new account? That should solve the issue.

Let me know if it helps.

This same thing happened to me. I want to try what Jeremy suggests, but I’m afraid to. I don’t want to lose all my Jetpack stats and more importantly, I don’t want everyone who has signed up to follow my site to have to re-sign up. Will disconnecting and reconnecting cause this? Thanks.

@tcline Rest assured, as soon as you reconnect Jetpack to WordPress.com your data will be back under your account, and none of your subscribers will have to sign up again.

In any case, such data is stored on WordPress.com servers, so it’s never lost. Whatever happens to your site, you can always contact us and we can help you get your data back.

Thanks Jeremy! I hope this works for us with this problem. btw esmi, yes, I’m using a child theme 🙂

@plymouthunitedorg I can confirm that @jeremy’s advice solved my problem and there was no disconnect problems with the data. If you give this a try, I hope it works for you, too. Good luck!

@jeremy Herve – Thanks for the reply. I just completed the disconnect and reconnect, and I am still receiving the same error. Any other options to try?

Success – I neglected to fully disconnect both the user and account – now it’s working! Thank you!
