I upgraded my blog to WordPress 2.5 but now I can’t publish posts.

I created a post and clicked Publish but it didn’t appear on the site. I found the post in drafts but when I click on it, it just takes me back to the list of drafts. When I hover over the link to the post I can see it is:

    blogurl.com/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=0

Whereas the two other posts already marked as drafts before the upgrade have post numbers assigned.

I’ve tried creating new posts and these neither appear on the site nor get marked as drafts.

This leads me to believe if the blog software is not numbering new posts correctly or something?

    Can anyone please help?

Yes! The same thing is happening to me. It happened before I upgraded. I just now upgraded and the same thing happened.

When I click publish, I am taken to http://blog.thebriz.org/wp-admin/post.php, but that loads to a blank page, and then I am not redirected anywhere else!

Does anyone know what may be going on?

    Hi.

I had the same problem some minutes ago. I was using the 2.2 version and updated to 2.5.

With both versions I could not publish any post, just save.

To solve the problem, I disabled all plugins, wrote a post and after this enabled them (the plugins) again.

    Now everything is ok.

    Hope this helps.

    Bye.

OK it turned out my “post=0” problem was not actually related to the 2.5 upgrade – it was caused by my recent move from a server with MySQL 5 to one with MySQL 4.

I had done this by usng the MySQL 4 output option in PHPMyAdmin. Apparently that strips out “Auto increment” code from the database.

Fortunately I also had a backup of the MySQL 5 version of the database from the same time so I opened both up in text editors and looked for instances of the Auto increment code in the MySQL 5 database. I copied all those over into the MySQL 4 database, uploaded it and hey presto! Working blog.

    This is now resolved.

Hi, I had the same problem as michaelbraun. I upgraded from 2.1 to 2.5, but then could not publish only save. I followed th suggestion from mdsrlz…

disabled all plugins, wrote a post and after this enabled them (the plugins) again.

…and it worked. All is well now.

    Thanks

i have the same problem as stated in the original post, but I don’t know how to find the plugins. I have already tried wp-content/plugins but it doesn’t work.
