• We changed hosting server earlier this year and have been havibng a few issues since. When trying to upload documents there is a message abiut being write protected. Some of the Next Gen Gallery stuff doesn’t work. The person who organised the hosting site is thinking of reinstalling wordpress on the hostng site but is a bit nervous. What steps are involved with that. What precautions should you take? We do have a weekly back up but the file is not big so I have got him to copy the photos etc to somewhere safe and he has found where the theme is kept. Any advice? Words of caution? etc. Thanks,

    Check the folder permissions.
    Emphasis on this part:

All directories should be 755 or 750.
All files should be 644 or 640. Exception: wp-config.php should be 600 to prevent other users on the server from reading it.
No directories should ever be given 777, even upload directories. Since the php process is running as the owner of the files, it gets the owners permissions and can write to even a 755 directory.
