Link recent post from subdomain to main domain

I don’t even know if this is possible, but I thought I would ask anyway.

I have a blog at http://www.itsthea.com/blog , and my design portfolio on http://www.itsthea.com (i’m redoing it so it’s not open right now)

I have a widget on my design portfolio that’s going to show the most recent blogpost. Is there a plugin/code/hack that I can put in the widget box so the newest post will automatically show (with featured image thumbnail), or will I have to manually add it with each new post?
