:((
I have the same problem. Main problem is we use custom templates & themes. But the plugin is not well coded, even if it overrides theme the listing sucks.
I tried another plugin too, none of them works with Blog Templates. Only working with Default Template.
Let see, maybe we need to code from scratch, but i can’t understand why these simple issue has no solution.
We want to be able to categorize the posts with any template or theme. Currently it is calling WP_Query in same place with templates, so either plugin or template works.. 🙁
You can use the “post_type” parameter in the shortcode to use it with a custom post type. Let’s say you had a post type called “listings”. This would show the most recent listings:
[display-posts post_type=”listings”]
kerso, it sounds like your current theme is interfering with WordPress queries. If none of these types of plugins work, there’s something wrong in your theme. I recommend you hire a developer to clean up your current theme, or switch to a better coded one.
This is a double post which I withdraw.
I leave it here for the sake of purity, however I transfered my question to http://wordpress.org/support/topic/display-posts-shortcode-on-x-the-theme?replies=1
Hi Bill,
hope it’s ok if I come in on this one.
I am using X The Theme which comes with their own post_type="x-portfolio"
. Your nice plugin shows the posts alright!
The portfolio(-arctiles) are categorized in porfolio-categories. Whenever I state something like category="book"
I get no result at all.
Is there any way to filter these kind of posts? To display simply any recent post just isn’t good enough.
Thanks!

Luxar
