Dashboard Comment Effect Admin Login Credentials

Hello Friends,

I just noticed that I have a comment in my Dashboard in the Comments section.
I do not know its origin, but only that I did not create it. Yesterday I was shocked when I discovered that I could not log in to my Dashboard. I ended up creating a new password in php MyAdmin and that fixed the log in issue.

My concern is, how did my Admin log in credentials change and does this unknown comment have anything to do with it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and many sincere thanks in advance for your help and your time.

It will prove more helpful if you could provide a link to your site.

Also, have you disabled comments?

And, the only likely way a password was changed (and you are sure of this), would unfortunately point to a site that may have been compromised (hacked).

I’m not sure the two things (1. you couldn’t log in and 2. this comment) are related. It seems like a Spam comment to me. Send it to spam and it shouldn’t trouble you any further.

As for your log in troubles, are you sure you didn’t make a mistake re your username or password?

Hello All,

I am going to read up on the Hardening Resources. I have to admit, this is something I have not done as yet.

I just do not understand how this post could get in my Dashboard. Perhaps as I read through the links everyone has provided to me I will learn more.
I really appreciate all of your links and suggestions.
