Show New Posts and Comments Since Last Visit

May not do quite what you want, but here’s a plugin for showing comments the visitor hasn’t read yet:

Works great. You can put it in the sidebar, and also set up little icons on the comments themselves to show if they’ve been read by the visitor or not.
