I'm looking for a plugin that "highlights" (with a custom CSS defined by the user, preferably) the first three posts. Maybe this can be done without plugins?
Something like a newspaper site.

You could download one of the multiple news and magazine type templates and suss of the code yourself.

I found the theme Bersih, probably will extract that code.
